The Peace Mandala Project Mexico seeks to restore harmony in all areas of existence, including environmental, social and spiritual aspects.
El eje de este proyecto es una escultura tallada en madera, de la tradición artística del budismo tibetano, que representa el universo.
This sculpture is a three-dimensional mandala carved in wood, hand-painted and dedicated to the Buddhist deity known as Vajrakilaya, whose main qualities are to release obstacles, both environmental and personal, as well as to harmonize and pacify the environment.
The work is done by the Bhutanese artist Cheten Lama, who, being the bearer of the knowledge and the appropriate lineage to be able to carve this mandala, runs a specialized workshop in Khatmandu, Nepal. Due to his mastery and excellence in following the canons dictated by tradition, Yogi Acharya Dawa Choddhak Rinpochecommissioned him to carve the sculptures necessary for the three Mandalas that integrate the project worldwide. Since this tradition is in danger of being lost, this project promotes the conservation of this wonderful craft and ancestral art.

In Mexico, the Mandala sculpture will be placed near the Popocatepetl Volcano, where the energetic characteristics required to fulfill its function are met. The Popocatepetl Volcano was selected because the specific mission of the Mandala in Mexico is to purify the fire element and to protect from disasters.
In addition to the Mandala exhibition, the space where it is located will be used for the development of activities that promote the conservation of nature and cultural activities focused on children and older adults in order to promote intergenerational and intercultural coexistence, both from native cultures and from world traditions.
